The last place i visited on my trip to the Scottish Highlands was the rather nice town of Elgin which has a fascinating former cathedral now ruins and some other interesting buildings. I did also see (though couldn't photograph) a bathroom and kitchen worktop manufacturer called Elgin Marbles! What i did photograph can be seen here.
Based in Inverness for a few days of course i wanted to visit a couple of other places too, Nairn is a town just a couple of stops down the line and is rather nice too. Unfortunately due to time constraints i wasn't able to reach the coast (the beach is apparently pretty good) but maybe another time? You can see my photos here.
I've been to the Far East, Europe even London but i haven't been to Scotland. Well until last week anyway when i finally made it! I have a very enjoyable trip to the Highlands, flying to Inverness. I also visited Nairn and Elgin but more about them another time.
Inverness is a superb city on the river Ness (no sign of any monsters unfortunately). You can see my photos along the Ness here and the other photos from Inverness here. I have no hestitation to say its one of the best places i have visited on my many travels, I certainly will be returning to the Highlands some time within the next couple of years.
Quite a few examples of this typewriter are on sale on eBay at any one time, often listed as being "vintage" or even "1970s/1980s". You could of course wonder why such an "old" typewriter has the Euro symbol on it's keyboard! That must mean the typewriter was built no earlier than about the year 2000. New typewriters are still made in China and this typewriter came from there, it is listed on this website (though the site is pretty old).
As it isn't a very old machine it naturally works pretty well and has little sign of wear and tear, though is a little plasticky.
The parish church of St Mary in Lower Heyford, Oxfordshire dates from the 13th century, replacing an earlier Saxon church. The church was rebuilt in the 14th century in the Decorated Gothic style. It has north and south aisles either side of the nave. A clerestory and porch was added to the church in the 15th century as was the west tower.
The church is built mainly from partly-coursed limestone and marl stone rubble. The church was restored in the mid-19th century.
