The village of Shustoke is near to Coleshill and has existed since before the Domesday Book. The manor was held in the Medieval period by the Mowbrays and later the Clinton family. Shustoke was the birthplace (in 1605CE) of Sir William Dugdale, the scholar and antiquarian. He built the mansion Blythe Hall in the manor.
The parish church of St Cuthbert dates from 1307CE. The church has been rebuilt and modified over the centuries (mostly the 14th) but still retains some Norman features and stonework.
In the 1870s Shustoke Reservoir was built which originally served Birmingham with drinking water but nowadays supplies Coventry and Nuneaton.
